Long-distance move from Denver, CO to Reno, NV

WORST COMPANY EVER

If I could give them less than 1 I would, my move experience is much like the review below. Quoted $3500 for my two bedroom home to be moved from CO to NV. They refused to give me a drop date, never gave me the bill of lading, charged me almost $8000 to move, with additional storage and redelivery fee when it was their fault they didn't drop my items. Tons of broken items, am missing a wardrobe box, and bed that they refuse to answer my emails about. I have been told multiple people had left or were fired. They don't have a claims form and haven't responded to multiple emails to file claims and to find my missing items. How do you lose a bed???? Terribly overcharged, terrible service, and I wouldn't trust their foreman to ever deliver without demanding more payment to do so. Filed a complaint with the Attorney General of Colorado in the hopes I can recoup some of my losses.

Official company response

You are correct that we have terminated a few of our employees. This was the best attempt to correct the issues that arose from their actions. They were terminated for not living up to our standard and I do apologize that you were affected by that. Unfortunately, we weren't able to deliver on our first attempt after we were given incorrect delivery information twice. We confirmed your delivery and gave you the information you needed to prepare for your delivery but you were not prepared with the appropriate payment to receive your goods and gave us incorrect delivery address. It is a costly situation for all involved when that happens. We have sent you the claims form multiple times. I was completely unaware that you have not received it. Please feel free to call me to discuss that as it is important for you to receive that. I would be happy to help you with that. We have had a very open line of communication with you and will continue to have that as long as needed to resolve this matter.

Long-distance move from Geneva, IL to Marietta, GA

Great review

I hired Pronto Moving for our move from the state of IL to the state of GA. I cannot express how professional, friendly and understanding through the process they were. They were very transparent with me and were upfront about everything. Tim was such a great person to work with. I was a little hesitant in hiring a moving company to move my stuff since I have read and heard sooo many bad experiences. Tim took my off the ledge and made me feel confident in my decision to choose Pronto. Tim went through each room with me to make sure that we were accurate with the cubic feet on the truck and to make sure there were no surprises in the cost. After we signed our contract with Tim, we were transitioned to the next rep in the process which was with Carrie. The handoff from Tim to Carrie was excellent. Carrie went over the FULL details of the contract and we went over AGAIN what Tim covered with us. She made sure to cross her T's and Dot her I's with this. Tim and Carrie also went over the DOT requirements and process as well. I still had a doubt and was nervous in pulling the trigger with this move because of all the bad experiences I read and heard from people. But Carrie pulled me back off the ledge and I knew I was sold. Once again, I was sooo pleased with the professionalism, kindness and they made you feel like family. I highly recommend this company for any local or long-distance moves.

Long-distance move from Largo, FL to Clarksville, TN

FL to TN Move - HORRIBLE & OVERCHARGED!!!

First of all, I received a quote from Pronto and it was reasonable for a 3br 2ba house $8500. On the day of the move, I receive a call from Noelle telling me that my drivers DJ & MO wouldn't be able to get the semi into my development , and would have to charge me a "SHUTTLE" fee. This is false because I have seen multiple sleeper semis in our development. I had to drive and pick up DJ and MO to let them see my house, DJ looked around and said the price was wrong and he would have to figure out a new price. After an hour, DJ called me and I drove out where the semi was parked, he told me it would be another $8500.00 because the quote was too low. I know this as false because I had a person from another moving company physically look at everything in my house and gave me a price and how many cubic feet it would be so I knew the quote was accurate. Also, the night before the move I had 3 men show up at 8pm to start loading the boxes, one man walks into my kitchen opens the refrigerator, grabs an apple and eats it. I was shocked at this behavior!! They load all the furniture and "SHUTTLE" it to the semi. Before anything was loaded into the truck, I had to give DJ, who was the foreman $8500.00 CASH and he said Noelle would send me a receipt...NEVER RECEIVED IT! When the truck arrived in TN, DJ told me I had to give him the additional $8500.00 before anything was unloaded, so I paid him the additional $8500 CASH. He again said Noelle would send me the receipt...NEVER RECEIVED IT. They broke a 60 inch LED TV, which DJ told me that Noelle would order a 55 inch tv from amazon and have it sent...NEVER RECEIVED IT! They broke multiple items and damaged countless others. My wife has MS and this was extremely stressful on her and on me, but DJ assured me the TV would be delivered and I could file a claim for the rest. I filed a claim, they said they would pay me $75.00 because it goes by weight. This is ridiculous!!! Now no one returns my calls, all my numbers have been disconnected, and I still havent received my check. All I want is my TV replaced and my crappy $75.00. I should go to the attorney general about the additional $8500 that was stolen from me. This company SUCKS...No other way to say it. Please dont make the same mistake we did...DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

Long-distance move from Seattle, WA to Raleigh, NC

Worst Move Ever

We used Pronto to move across the country, and it was the worst moving experience of my life .I have used other companies for cross country moves before, and it always went pretty smoothly.

This was toxic.

It was way more expensive than the national average for a two bedroom apartment. They pretty much just dumped our stuff in large or medium boxes without wrapping the majority of it, and they left a bunch of extra space at the top so it would take up more cubic feet so we would be charged more. They used none of the small boxes we paid for. They put our 3,000 dollar computer, computer screens, playstation and xbox in boxes without any protection at all, as well as other electronics. A lot of our stuff ended up broken-- including two cribs, 2 computer screens, a desk, a chair, a tv, 2 end tables, an electronic piano, and more. I understand that things break in transit, but not like this. They packed all our stuff, and then asked for more money only after loading it all up in the truck. We ended up paying over 16,000 dollars, double what they quoted.

We also paid for a full pack because I have a baby, and my husband is disabled. We double checked that this meant they would be packing and unpacking everything, and they said yes--I would just have to tell the movers where I wanted my stuff to go, but when they brought our stuff to our new house, they claimed that we only paid for a "full pack" not an unpack, and that they don't offer unpacking services. We would never have booked a company that didn't offer unpacking services. None of the boxes were marked or labeled, so they were just left in the living room at 1 am. The mover refused to call a manager or do an inventory checklist to make sure we received all our items. So far we are missing two of our tool bags and a table.

Avoid at all costs.

Long-distance move from Nevada City, CA to Franklin, VA

Picking up my furniture

I have enjoyed working with Pronto Moving & Storage. We have had a few little bumps which have been resolved amicably and professionally by Carrie. She has been easy to contact and has informed me when necessary of any changes.

The driver who picked up my furniture was excellent. He could not get closer than 1000 feet to my furniture. He wrapped each item and moved them by himself with a dolly. He then carefully placed them in the truck with more padding. He never complained about the situation and was quite amicable.

Long-distance move from Henderson, NV to Franklin, TN

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! URGENT WARNING!!

I will try and keep this very long story short.

Lied told me I would get my things delivered week of Christmas, this was THE BIG reason I decided to go with them. In order for them to deliver my stuff they had to get into my storage without me present. I told them this and they assured me it would NOT be a problem, they do it "all the time" so I booked the pick up date. When it became a problem and the foreman could not gain access and had to wait, Pronto then charged ME additional $600 wait fee, plus an additional $300 (long carry fee they said), when they are the ones who said it would not be a problem. Now that's an additional $900 on top of the quote, $3800 from original bid. Truck is loaded and driven off...to where I have no idea because their communication with me goes silent for almost two weeks (PU 12/14....EDD 12/23...) Christmas comes and goes, no one has contacted me, I reach out and hear nothing.

I call again on 12/29-to the employee who is in charge of responding during transit...hear nothing back

Then get on email from another woman stating there where company changes (ie: they fired the person in charge that I was calling) and that someone would get back to me.

They NEVER sent me pick up paperwork to sign BEFORE driving off with my things...(apparently this is where the fired employee dropped the ball) the contract states that if they do not send it, they CANNOT add additional charges to your move an MUST stick to the original BID QUOTE...well you guessed it...

Got a call from another employee basically threatening me when I brought that up that I was just trying to get out of paying, when I simply stated the NUMEROUS ERRORS on their companies part that I should not have to pay and they should stick to their contract. We still do not have any of our house hold items and living in our new home with basically nothing waiting, they refuse to abide by the contract, only agree to take off $300, (send me a very hard to read "rewritten contract) when I asked for the woman to type out the numbers, for cost of additional storage, she gives me numbers .50-.75, now today she's telling me that it will be 1.0 per/csquareft!! like WTF!! Now a move that at start before booking I said I will not pay over $4000 for, quoted $3800, now have to pay over $6000!!! All for their errors and no or poor communication throughout this whole move.

Quoted: $3800

Paid: $1330 for booking

Paid: $1000 at pick up

Balance: $1470

Told no problem, on pick up, set date, when problem due to their error charged addition: $600, then charged long carry fee and never told about it $300

NO PAPERWORK SIGNED AT PICK UP

CONTRACT STATES THEY CAN NOT CHARGE ADDITION THEN

Call from company arguing with me about what their contract states and saying they will get owner to give a "discount" when I asked to take off the wait fee. (never told being charged for long carry)

Company say's they'll discount : $300 but no more

then states storage starts at date of pick up NOT EDD so if not delivered by 1/14 (it's now 1/12 when they are telling me this) we will have to pay additional storage at .50-.75/csqft, when I inquire if cost is per day the price is not 1.0/csqft and it's now 1/19 so we're forced now to have to pay an additional $550

CURRENT CHARGES:

Quoted: $3800--CHANGED TO $5500

Wait fee: $600

Long Haul fee:$300

Additional Storage: $550

Paid: $1330 for booking

Paid: $1000 at pick up

Balance: $4270 (ADDITIONAL $3150!!! THEY COST ME!)

TO DATE...I STILL DON'T HAVE OUR THINGS...THEY SAID WILL HAVE SOMEONE FROM DELIVERY CONTACT ME...WHEN IS THAT GOING TO BE? AFTER MY SECOND MONTH OF STORAGE IS UP!!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $6350

Official company response

While this has been a less than desirable experience for both you and us as your chosen moving company, I do believe that this is a gross misrepresentation of the situation at hand. First, as you and I have discussed on multiple occassions, the storage unit and their management team dropped the ball in their communication with us and with you as their customer. They gave us instruction on what needed to be done in order for us to gain access to your storage unit, in your absence. We followed their instructions and confirmed with the Manager, Robert, at Dollar Storage more than once that it would be no problem to access your unit with your permission. You provided us with an email giving our driver that permission and the management of the storage unit the authority to handle your pickup. On the day of the move, their story changed and they then had many more requirements in order for us to perform the move. We gave you the option of rescheduling for another day or having our driver wait for it to be handled. This waiting costs us time and money because your move was not the only one that needed done that day. You asked repeatedly that we continue to wait and even texted me that you would pay whatever you had to to get your stuff moved that day. You even told me in a text that if he waited you would pay the wait fee that day. After the truck was loaded 5 hours later, you then informed me that you could not pay and asked me to "please allow me time to come up with the money as I have a really good job lined up" Against my better judgement, we allowed the move to continue with a promise to pay for the additional space and services you needed at pickup. Then, 2 weeks later you asked if we could please let you take advantage of our 30 days of free storage with free redelivery. Although that service was not on your original ordered services, I pushed that through as well to try to help you. I did this because you said you just didn't have an available delivery date nor did you have the money yet to pay us and you needed a little more time. Again, going above and beyond the original agreement. I also discounted your wait fee by half ($300) because I felt like a big part of the blame for the situation that happened at pickup laid with the storage company that we picked your items up from. Your storage manager refused to sign the paperwork at pickup after he had already said he would and went back on his agreement to allow us access to your belongings. I am not sure why you would put in this review that we are holding your belongings and you are still waiting for them to be delivered when up until less than a week ago, you asked us to hold them in our storage facility until you could come up with a date that you were available for delivery. I do wish things had gone more smoothly from the beginning and we, as your movers, have tried to rectify the situation at every angle possible. Those things that you have repeatedly thanked us for are not mentioned in your review. Now that you have given us an available delivery date, we are working diligently to get your household goods delivered to you. We can't deliver to a customer that states they cannot accept delivery because they aren't ready with a place to deliver and do not have the funds to pay for the remainder of their move.

Long-distance move from Chehalis, WA to Moorhead, MN

Run don't walk away from this mover or should say destroyer

First of all they kept jacking up the price of the move and more than doubled when they had some of our belonging on the truck. We had everything in a storage unit and since we were 1500 miles away we sent the key to the manager of the storage units. When the driver got to our house he introduced us to his two year old son. The kid kept getting in the way and when told not to bring his metal toy truck or grasses, weeds and rocks into the house he told his dad what was told to him. His dad told him he didn't have to do what we told him. What this company didn't steal they damaged. All of our wooden furniture pieces are either damaged or totally destroyed. When we saw the dining room table was damage while still on the truck the driver said there was nothing wrong with it, it was the leaf. We pointed out that it was not the leaf and when he finally admitted it was broken he said it can be glued. When we heard him drop a cast iron antique signal cannon on the garage floor he said it was ok because it is metal. They dropped other items off the truck. We were charged for moving blankets and tv boxes but none were used. They put one small television in one of our pillowcases and wrapped a small cabinet in the matching sheet. Near the end of everything getting unloaded the driver held the rest of our items hostage until were paid him for taking 10 loads down to the basement (12 steps). When told the contract says $50 to $75 can be charged for more than 7 steps. Originally he wanted $250 but "kindly" lowered to $200. When that was paid he said "What no tip?" They told us that we had 90 days to send in photos for any claims and they had 60 days after we send in everything for their settlement. Now they say they have 90 days because the claims person is out on maternity leave. Don't use this company. What they don't steal they will destroy.

Long-distance move from Illinois to Florida

Horrible movers

Price went from $5.21 per CF to $6 perCF because we needed a bigger truck/crew. 2 small men and a woman showed up in a 26 ft Ryder truck. We were charged for 1677 CF but when they delivered to our storage unit in Florida there was only 1500 CF of furniture, etc. still charged us for 1677 tho and said maybe they lost the rest. The same 26 ft Ryder truck that showed up also had another families furniture. My husband watched and took pics as they unloaded broken and damaged prices. The moving blankets had come off the furniture and all of the boxes look like they got wet. They refuse to give the name of the owner and never followed up on a promised conference call with him. Be warned .. this company operated under a different name last year, went out of business due to complaints and reopened under Pronto Moving and Storage of Hickory Hills Illinois. Most of their employees live in Florida so who knows what other names they operate on. There were so many more issues and even the moving crew picking up told us that they were dishonest.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $10195

Official company response

We have addressed the majority of these claims from the various review sites you have posted. Without giving away personal information regarding your move, as that would be unprofessional, I would like to say that the things that are being alleged in this review are not the same as you have expressed to us and to other public review sites. I do believe that when something doesn't go as planned or a client is not satisfied with our services, it is important to address those issues to prevent them from happening in the future. However, it should be an accurate representation of the facts that occurred. Your price per CF NEVER changed. It remained the same from beginning to end. Also, your move was, in fact 1677 CF, as you both stated was clearly mapped out for you by our foreman at pickup. You stated he showed you the panels in the back of the truck that measured out to 1677 cubic feet. You complimented our driver at pickup for going out of his way to reassure you of the exact volume of your move. You have an open claim for damages with us, in which we extended your amount of time to submit your claim and gave an additional 2 months for submission due to your personal circumstance. Mostly, I would like to address the allegation that we are operating under a new name from a company that closed last year. That is just false. In fact, it was shared with you as it is with most of our clients that We opened in August of last year and many of us had worked at various moving broker firms prior to coming together to open Pronto as a carrier. Most of us had worked at completely different companies (brokerages) prior to obtaining a position at Pronto when we opened in August. We often share that we did this because we wanted a change and no longer were comfortable with working as a moving broker. None of the office employees here had worked for a motor carrier prior to Pronto. Also, many companies in this day and age have remote workers and remote offices. Our warehouse and headquarters is in IL, as you stated, and we have remote workers in Florida and a couple other states. Post covid it is a very common business model. We will continue to process your claim and help in any way we can. We would be happy to discuss any of these new claims made in this review and hopefully come to a resolution. We wish you the best.

Cross Country Move

I recently moved cross country from CA-NC. I was so stressed out at the beginning just for the simple fact of the cross country move, mixed in with finances, scary reviews on several different companies, and the list goes on. I went ahead and went with Pronto for this move, hoping for the best, based on the fact this is a family owned company. My family and I are so happy that we bit the bullet and chose Pronto! Everything went smoothly, with an exception of a few hiccups here and there which they hurdled over like it was cake. Our items arrived in NC within a reasonable amount of time, with the same great crew who picked us up! I will definitely recommend Pronto to everyone that I know who is moving! Great workers, great value, great experience!
